## Abstract

This research aims to utilize the stream analysis model, which is one of mathematical models used to design Baffled Shell and Plain Tube Heat Exchangers [BSPTHE]. The procedure is to utilize design specifications of data sheets from industry as an input data to a computer program, which is based on the stream analysis model. The program was prepared in this work using excel sheet and MATLAB code. Three data sheets from industry were utilized in this study. Results obtained, which are overall heat transfer coefficient and the corresponding BSPTHS length, compare well with industrial data, and the deviations between industrial data and the calculated via stream analysis model doesn’t exceed 2%.  The effect of shell side Reynolds number on convective heat transfer coefficient, Overall heat transfer coefficient, BSPTSH length,  and shell side pressure drop were performed in this study. The effect of shell side convective heat transfer coefficient on BSPTHE was also presented in this work. The future work is to assess stream analysis model with other mathematical models that used to design BSPTHS, which are Bell, Tinker, Kern models by validate the four models with industrial data and verify the most closer model to industrial data.
